NEWS: Upcoming modelling features of Feature Pack 3

This is a teaser of what will be the new features in Feature Pack 3 for our Studio 8 Modelling Tools.
When working with Arrays and Ranges, the flexibility of how you use ranges is greatly improved:
- Dynamic ranges
- Yes, it is true; ranges that adapt automatically to the needs of the enduser of a model
- More detailed information on this great new feature will be available in August
- Free-text enumeration ranges
- Allows the user to type free-text names for elements in an enumeration range
- Not limited to the characters allowed in the identifiers of standard enumeration ranges
- These texts will also be language-independent
- Shared range element names
- The user may re-use the same name (identifier) in multiple enumeration ranges.
- This makes pre-processing and need for changes of input data unnecessary
- Automatic range for all runs of a multi-run simulation
- When you run a multi-run simulation, the range that holds values per run is made.
- Utilize this range for a specific variable to compare the individual result from each simulation run
- Easy to use a chart graph object to analyze the the results
- Shortcuts to variables
- A completely revised scheme for how shortcuts (former snapshots) and variables are handled
- You may have shortcuts to variables that are not present in the current diagram making it very clear where the variable itself is defined.
- This will yield cleaner diagrams and an overall better user experience.
- New statistical functions
- NORMDIST - returns the normal cumulative distribution
- NORMINV - returns the inverse of a normal cumulative distribution
- TRIANGULARDIST- returns a triangular distribution
- TRIANGULARINV - returns the inverse of a triangular distribution
This Feature Pack is planned for September of 2010.

Service Release of all Studio 8 products
Service Release 5 for Modeling tools and End-user tools
Improvements:
- Improved the 'Connect Submodels' dialog. The dialog now recognizes existing connections from the source submodel and suggests the 'Create link only' alternative when the suggested bindings are identical to the existing bindings.
- Improved tooltip/error text for submodels having invalid children. It now lists the names of the public children that probably need to be connected.
- Added new built-in currency units: AUD, CAD, NZD (Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand Dollar), and CHF (Swiss Franc).
The Service Release 5 is ready for you to download.
Service Release 4 for Developer Suite
Bug fixes:
- Fixed a problem that in some cases could cause undetermined behavior when running simulations with series variables on multi-core computers.
- Fixed a problem that caused incorrect calculation of delay functions and other state functions using delayed input from levels.
The Service Release 4 for Studio 8 SDK is ready for you to download.
The Service Release 4 for Studio 8 Simulation Engine is ready for you to download.

Poll on new workshop concept
We plan to offer a workshop to share knowledge about the great features of Studio 8 that are not covered by existing workshops.
Do you have 3 minutes to spend to fill out our poll?
If you want to leave your name and e-mail, you will be included in our raffle for a discount to participate in one of our workshops.

Workshop schedule
We have planned the following workshops for the second half of 2010, make plans now if you want to attend the August workshop. More workshops will be added to our schedule during fall, based on the polling answers above.
