Studio 8 Developer Suite

Studio 8 Developer Suite

Studio 8 Simulation Engine

The Studio 8 Simulation Engine  is a software that can be used by programmers to distribute custom-made simulations or software applications made with the Studio 8 Software Development Kit (SDK).

End users must install one of the commercial editions of the Studio 8 Simulation Engine product for the solution to work.

Studio 8 Simulation Engine Server

Studio 8 Simulation Engine ServerStudio 8 Simulation Engine Server allows the developer to install a license on one server to accompany a solution built to be accessed from a server or through the web.

In the Server solution scenario the model and the software needed to run it resides on a server computer, while the software for interacting with the model resides on client computers. One example is web-based solutions.

Distribution

To distribute your server-based solution, you can let the client be responsible for the purchase and installation of the Studio 8 Simulation Engine Server. Alternatively, you can purchase a copy of Studio 8 Simulation Engine Server from Powersim Software and distribute it with the rest of your server software. You will receive a product key to be used when the client installs that are issued to their company's name.

Each license of Studio 8 Simulation Engine Server can be installed on one server and can serve either 10, 50 or 100 concurrent users.

Additional Studio 8 Simulation Engine Server licenses can be purchased individually or bundled with the other products in the Studio 8 Developer Suite.

Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation

Studio 8 Simulation Engine WorkstationThe Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation allows a developer to distribute solutions which are installed on a stand-alone computer.

All software needed to run the solution is located on the client's workstation. As part of the installation the client must install the Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation product. You can purchase an bundle of licenses from Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation which are issued to your company.

Or you can purchase an option to a bundle of licenses from Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation. When you need to distribute them with each copy of your workstation-targeted application, you will receive a license number issued to the client to be used when installing the Simulation Engine (as part of the overall installation procedure for your application).

Distribution

Additional Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation licenses can be purchased in bundles of 10, 100 or 1000 licenses. Make sure to bundle some Studio 8 Simulation Engine Workstation licenses with your Studio 8 SDK purchase.

Studio 8 Simulation Engine Developer

Studio 8 Simulation Engine DeveloperWhen you installed your Studio 8 SDK, a license of a developer edition of the Studio 8 Simulation Engine was also installed on your computer. This Developer edition lets you freely develop and test both Workstation and Server solutions built in Studio 8 SDK on your computer.

You can also install this developer edition on other computers (for example a server) for test purposes. Note that you are not entitled to use this edition for any other purpose than to test a developed SDK solution.

For all other purposes, a valid, commercial edition of the Studio Simulation Engine is needed, such as Studio Simulation Engine Workstation or Studio Simulation Engine Server. Even an in-house solution requires a commercial edition of the Studio Simulation Engine to be installed.

Distribution

For each license of Studio 8 SDK there is one license of Studio 8 Simulation Engine Developer included. This license will be installed on the same computer as the Studio 8 SDK license.

It is not possible to purchase Studio 8 Simulation Engine Developer as a stand-alone product.

Upgrade from previous Studio SDK versions

Please note that the distribution policy has changed since Studio 7 SDK. Previously there was a redistributable Simulation Engine that you could redistribute with your Workstation solutions. When Server solutions were developed, the clients needed to install the full SDK product on the server. Now with the Developer Suite, Studio 8 SDK is intended for the developer and Studio 8 Simulation Engine are intended for the end users.
